FAQ'S

  • q-iconWhy do we need a partner?

Having a teammate helps with accountability.  You will work harder.  You will be more consistent.  You will get better results.  How many times have you started a training program on your own and just quite after a while?  Having a partner flat out helps keep you motivated and consistent.

  • q-iconDo my partner and I need to be at the same fitness level?

Both you and your partner do NOT need to be at the same fitness level. We are looking for the partnership that can transform their body and lifestyle the most in 8 weeks.

  • q-iconDo my partner and I need to attend camp/train at the same time?

No, attend camp or training at whatever time is convenient for each of you. There is no penalty for attending at different times. Though, working out together does add another level of accountability.

  • q-iconWhat if I can't find a partner?

If you need help finding a partner you can either email me (and I’ll put you on the list) or you can check our EXL facebook page and look for the post that talks about “hooking” partners up for the challenge and you can pick your partner there.

  • q-iconWhat kind of results can I expect?

That depends on how compliant you are. But last year our winners lost over 10 pounds a piece in just a 6 week challenge. One of the winners lost 16 pounds. This is an eight week challenge so we are expecting even better results.

  • q-iconHow will the winners be determined?

Winners will be chosen based on change in measurements (tape, scale and percent body fat) as well as visible changes in the before and after pics. Contestants will also turn in a testimonial/essay of their experience during the challenge that will be factored in along with partner participation and attitude.

  • q-iconHow do you measure body fat?

We use skin calipers. It is not the most accurate form of measurement, but it gives us the most consistent measurements and we can perform the test in the studio. For a more accurate measurement you can make an appointment at BYU to do the Bod Pod. I believe it costs about $15.

  • q-iconWhat is the difference between boot camp and personal training?

Boot camp is a larger setting, up to 18 clients in a session. It’s for healthy adults wanting to raise metabolism, lose fat and get fit. Everyone in camp does the same workout. We offer different levels of each exercise so all fitness levels are challenged. Personal training is performed in a small group of no more than 5 clients. Clients have their own program designed around their specific goals and limitations. It is ideal for those with specifics goals not addressed by boot camp. It is also ideal for those that aren’t fit enough for camp or unable to do camp do to an injury. Because of the smaller more personal setting it is favored by those wanting more coaching and attention than found in boot camp.

  • q-iconWhat is the one on one nutrition coaching?

This service is offered in diamond membership package and is option #2 for current members. In bi-weekly meetings you will work with one of our nutrition coaches (Aubrey or Mat) specifically on your nutrition. You will not only be educated in proper nutrition, but you will be held specifically accountable on your nutrition goals. You will basically have a personal coach to assist you in transforming your nutrition. Even though we give all our clients the necessary nutrition tools to get the results they want, it’s the personalized attention in the nutrition coaching that offers specific accountability and education to ensure great results.

  • q-iconIs it going to be Über competitive?

It is a competition, but EXL is not about degrading or judging.  The environment is uplifting and you will be competing more against yourselves than anything.  As far as how big the challenge is…we traditionally have between 15 and 30 teams.  We do need a minimum of 10 teams to run the challenge.  Those are some really good odds.
